Digital signage delivers website experience to Dutch retailer
Scala Inc. recently teamed up with KPN, an IT and telecom provider in the Netherlands, to upgrade its store with digital signage technology. The goal of the deployment was to allow customers to explore the store as if they were on the company's website, according to a press release.
Scala worked with systems integrator QYN to deploy 2 by 4 interactive video walls, RFID, electronic price labels and queue management. It also worked to integrate online shopping and customer contact centers into the displays.
"In this store of the future, we were forced to stretch the abilities of technology far outside the envelope of digital signage," Matthijs Buijs, CTO, QYN, said in the release. "The way Scala is set up makes for easy integration of triggers like RFID tags and Kinect inputs. The Scala player isn’t scared of an 8k multitouch, Kinect-powered video wall setup with multiple content layers and interactive sessions, while Scala Content Manager is used to streamline the different content channels in the store."
