The city of Denver commemorated its four championship-winning teams with a tourism marketing campaign dubbing Denver "Hockey Capital USA," according to a press release.
The campaign celebrates the victories of the Colorado Avalanche, University of Denver Pioneers, Denver East Hocky and Pee Wee Jr. Avs teams and includes a ten foot high honorary hockey puck containing the names of the 88 players on those teams. The puck will be moved to various locations throughout the city for fans to use as a selfie background. The campaign also includes a digital billboard at Denver International Airport and a recorded train message featuring championship players. City ice rinks will feature campaign media in dasher boards and in-ice logos.
"As Denver and Colorado revel in these victories and the teams take on the new season, we are excited to commemorate their collective, triumphant victories by designating Denver as Hockey Capital USA," Richard Scharf, president and CEO of Visit Denver, the city's official travel and promotions agency, said in the release. "Visit Denver and the Denver Sports Commission are showing our shared pride in each win by launching a campaign that is seen and heard throughout the city."
