Comcast has announced it is expanding investment in its Smart Solutions wing, which focuses on smart city and IoT applications including smart buildings, video analytics, smart mobility, digital signage, smart lighting and smart public works, according to a press release.

Comcast Smart Solutions launched in April 2022 and has developed its ecosystem of products, partners and providers. Recent additions include Quantela (a firm focusing in urban infrastructure and AI integration for smart city solutions), Creative Realities (a smart digital signage firm) and Umojo (a parking solutions firm). Other ecosystem partners include Conservation Labs, Eagle Eye Networks, Juganu, Logical Buildings, MachineQ, netPark and SmartEnds.

The division has worked with partners like nonprofit Hopeworks — based in Camden, NJ and Philadelphia, PA — to develop smart energy management solutions, along with municipalities like The City of College Park (near Atlanta, GA) for a variety of smart city solutions including smart waste management, public Wi-Fi and traffic analytics.

"There is incredible potential for smart technology to unlock new efficiencies for businesses and municipalities, and we look forward to continuing to simplifying the smart technology journey for our customers," Mike Slovin, VP and general manager at Comcast Smart Solutions, said in the release. "With our growing roster of technology solutions and the power of Comcast's breadth of connectivity options we can help create customized solutions that empower our clients to operate their communities and businesses at their best."
