Clear Channel Outdoor has partnered with Learning Heroes, an education-focused nonprofit, along with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the National Summer Learning Foundation and Univision to launch #GoBeyondGrades, a national advertising campaign to promote knowledge and access summer education opportunities, according to a press release.

The awareness campaign includes research indicating that a large percentage of K-12 parents think their students are performing at a higher level than they are, and the campaign cites research by The Nation's Report Card (a governmentally funded national education quality monitoring instrument) indicating that 29% of eighth grade students are proficient in reading, with 26% showing proficiency in math.

"While this is an all-hands-on-deck moment in public education, most parents are not aware they need to be in the boat," Cindi Williams, co-founder at Learning Heroes, said in the release. "Parents are problem solvers, but we can't expect them to solve a problem they don't know exists. Now is the time to partner with our teachers to find out how we can use the summer months to address missed instruction."

The awareness campaign includes creative focusing on the parent-child side of the K-12 education experience, such as the story of Shareeda Jones and her efforts to support her daughter Christyonna after a school switch revealed that Christyonna's reading level was not as proficient as the previous school had indicated in report cards.
