Cimcon appoints COO

Cimcon, a smart city solutions and outdoor lighting provider, has named Mobeed Khan as COO. Prior to joining Cimcon, Khan served as vice president of IoT at AT&T, according to a press release.

Cimcon hired Khan to help handle increased demand for its NearSky smart city platform and other smart city solutions such as pedestrian analytics and air quality control monitoring. Khan will handle strategic initiatives and oversee the customer-facing functions.

"Cimcon has built an amazing brand and reputation over the last decade in state-of-the-art connected lighting solutions, and now has become a leader in smart city space through its NearSky connected edge platform," Khan said in the release. "In addition to the opportunity to build great value for our city and utility customers, there is also a tremendous opportunity to work closely with global cellular operators to help them realize their aggressive 4G small cell and 5G rollout schedules by partnering with our customers and through the NearSky partnership program."
