The Brisbane (Australia) City Council recently has taken a step toward executing Digital Brisbane's strategy of positioning Brisbane as a digital leader — a highly connected and accessible city — including deploying digital signage wayfinding kiosks, according to Australian digital signage provider Prendi.
Earlier this year Prendi partner Entwined Solutions was engaged to build digital solutions as part of a donation to the Asia Pacific Cities Summit, and collaborated with Prendi to make it happen via its partner network, the company said.
The solution: three 47-inch touchscreen kiosks to provide interactive wayfinding and six 55-inch upright kiosks to provide non-interactive wayfinding on a rotation.
Two of the three 47-inch touchscreens showed information relevant to South Bank, including events being pulled from visitbrisbane.com.au. These were installed at the South Bank Convention Centre and the information Center in the South Bank Parklands. The third 47-inch touchscreen was installed in City Hall and contained a customized wayfinding solution, tailored to locations within City Hall. The kiosk also featured a list of all 100-plus mayors who were attending APCS, plus their bios and credentials.
The six 55-inch upright portrait kiosks were installed at key locations around the South Bank precinct. The content featured includes pre-created wayfinding to help visitors find local events. The content is updated based on the time until the event, allowing upcoming events to be shown more frequently. This ensures the content is relevant for all visitors, at all times, Prendi said.
Entwined Solutions handled the hardware procurement and installation of all kiosks, while Prendi was responsible for all content creation and ongoing content management.
