Black Box unveils low-cost HD extender

Black Box has announced the availability of its HD View HDMI, which uses ordinary CATx cable to send digital HDMI video and audio to distant high-definition screens and speakers.

The HD View HDMI extends 1080p video up to 130 feet and 720p video up to 230 feet—much farther than HDMI cables—without any degradation of video or sound quality. HD View HDMI requires a single copper cable to transfer both HDMI audio/video and screen-optimizing emulated DDC signals.

The HD View HDMI extender offers plug-and-play setup and features a receiver that is small enough to be hidden behind a screen in a public area.
