Birch Aquarium installs touchscreens using Wireless Ronin digital signage
July 22, 2009
Wireless Ronin announced today that the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, has installed a dual language interactive touchscreen powered by RoninCast digital signage software. The Aquarium said it implemented the system to enhance the visitors experience and increase access to the oceanography science for its Spanish-speaking guests. The aquarium said it hopes to expand the program throughout the facility after evaluating the initial installation.
The installation was funded by private donations, and it will serve as a proof of concept to attract funding for additional touch screens. Birch Aquarium at Scripps is the only non-profit, public aquarium in San Diego County.
"The Wireless Ronin digital signage system is a beautiful addition to our facility and we have had very positive feedback by both visitors and staff," said Nigella Hillgarth, executive director at Birch Aquarium at Scripps. "This project allows us to better address a core objective to provide engaging, education-based content in two languages while reducing traditional textual signage."
