Avocent unveils wireless VGA, audio module

March 18, 2007

HUNTSVILLE, Al. — Avocent Corp. announced a new wireless VGA and audio module for the professional A/V market. As part of the Avocent Emerge MPX1000 extender, the new VGA module will enable a combination of multipoint transmitters and receivers to work in unison to form a managed audio-video extension network.

The VGA distribution system is able to deliver a synchronized stream of high-definition computer graphics or video and associated audio from one source to as many as eight display devices in a wired or wireless manner. Display information data, content protection, and interactive device control signals, including IR and serial, is passed from the source through the extension network to the destination, providing a fully managed solution.

In addition to the VGA video distribution feature, the Emerge MPX1000 extender solution also provides support for HDMI/DVI digital video and audio signals. Digital signage installations can benefit from either a digital HDMI/DVI module or analog VGA module for delivering content at the required resolutions from a digital or analog source. A new firmware upgrade for the Emerge MPX1000 extender product to be released later this month provides a number of new features for improved video quality, Web-based receiver configuration and expanded video resolution support.
