The Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia has teamed up with Daktronics to craft an LED video display system. The 12-display system hangs from the center of the arena, and uses 180 LED panels for the eight main displays, according to a press release.
Four of the displays are 4.76 meters high by 8.88 meters wide, and the other four are 4.76 meters high and 2.54 meters wide. They have 6-mm line spacing to offer good image clarity and contrast. The displays are also designed to show individual images or break them up into multiple zones to show instant replays, scores, graphics, advertising and more.
The centerhung system has an upper ring display measuring .63 meters high and 55.79 meters around and a lower ring measuring .63 meters high and 38.04 meters around. The rings are designed with 10-mm line spacing. Daktronics also provided two displays, measuring 1.90 meters high by 3.49 meters wide, on the underbelly of the centerhung.
"This project was a challenge that our engineering team was eager to accept as we worked closely with the Qudos Bank Arena operations team to design and install a world-class multi-sport centerhung display system," Blair Robertson, regional manager, Daktronics, said in the release. "This type of project fully engages every aspect of our business and highlights Daktronics as the industry leader in the LED display industry. I'm proud to be a part of such a magnificent project that truly is spectacular to see in person."
Daktronics also installed four digital scorer's displays, measuring .63 meters high by 2.22 meters wide along the side of the playing area to show other images and messages, according to the release.
