Australia considers banning plasma, LCD displays

UPI: A report for the Australian government recommends new energy efficiency standards for televisions that would ban most plasma models now available. The report was prepared by Digital Cenergy, a private consulting firm, for the Australian Greenhouse Office. The government's Equipment Energy Efficiency Committee found this year that televisions are becoming major power consumers as Australians acquire more plasma and LCD models.
