ASRock Industrial pens deal to install 5G smart poles

ASRock Industrial, a computer hardware manufacturer, will partner with 5G Smart Pole Standard Promotion Alliance to deploy 5G smart poles as infrastructure and foundational "nucleus" in smart city developments, according to a company press release.

The partnership seeks to set the technology standard for 5G smart poles and co-create business opportunities in global markets.

ASRock Industrial's iEPF-9000S Series Robust Edge AIoT Platform will power up 5G smart light poles, acting as an edge computing server for artificial intelligence smart traffic enforcement and smart pole information security protection. Navigant Consulting has estimated that over 90 million smart poles will be installed globally by 2028.

"Given the current trend of smart pole transition, we are witnessing great opportunity for all stakeholders in business and intelligent future of smart city development," James Lee, president of ASRock Industrial, said in the release. "We look forward to working with the industry and government in the rapid global 5G smart pole development, giving rise to exciting business opportunities together. We know Taiwan is highly capable of taking on a significant role in supply chain support for 5G smart poles, helping government sectors worldwide in the key infrastructural transformation where new synergy and revenue shall thrive."
