Apollo Display Technologies, provider of TFT flatscreens and system solutions for industrial and multimedia applications, announced it now offers touchscreen displays with custom-designed projected capacitive touchscreens.

The company said its modular, compact touch solutions are implemented according to specific customer requirements and offer countless design variations. "Apollo's customers are increasingly looking for custom touchscreens that incorporate printed bezels, logos and hard buttons," said Scott Makboulian, vice president of sales and technology at Apollo Display, in the announcement. "Custom screens typically have high engineering charges and long lead times. Our Infinite Touch solution utilizes standard touch sensors bonded to the customer's cover glass to provide full custom flexibility at a fraction of the cost and lead time."

Areas of application can range from public areas such as point-of-sale and digital signage systems to mobile applications or use for machinery in production and industry, according to the announcement. In addition, Apollo Display said its VacuBond optical bonding technology improves sunlight readability and prevents fogging by moisture ingress.

The company laminates the PCAP touch foils in sizes from 7 to 27 inches (17.78 to 68.58 cm) on custom glasses, and implements special glass forms, organic or ceramic prints in custom colors and logo prints according to the customer's specifications. The choice ranges from special coatings such as antiglare or privacy filters to shatterproof safety glass in different strengths.

Depending on the version, the company said, the multitouch foils provide up to 10 touchpoints and are available with different interfaces: in addition to the cost-saving versions with an I²C controller, there are HID compatible versions with USB controllers available. These do not need any drivers for modern operating systems such as Windows 7 and up. Some touch foils also provide an RS232 interface. In addition to the modular design, the PCAP touchscreens are available as a standard product with black passe-partout print.
