AIS releases digital signage player featuring Intel tech

American Industrial Systems Inc (AIS) recently introduced a compact PC digital signage player kit powered by the Intel Core i5 Processor and Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 7 Evaluation, optimized for digital signage.

The optimized size of the Embedded OS footprint on the media engine uses only the components you need, according to AIS. Selecting only the drivers, services, and application needed reduces development time, optimizes operating system size and lowers hardware costs. AIS says it has packaged the latest technology enabling next-generation media experiences, rich interactive applications and compelling user interfaces into a compact small form-factor digital signage PC.
 
Windows Embedded Standard 7 delivers the power, familiarity, and reliability of the Windows 7 operating system in a componentized form for developers to create advanced commercial and consumer devices running thousands of existing Windows applications and drivers.

Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT), the remote management component of Intel vPro technology, works through an out-of-band (OOB) communications link to networked embedded devices. It enables IT staff to diagnose problems remotely, repair software issues over the wire and identify failed hardware components, even when devices are powered off. Intel integrated graphics support multiple displays, rich media blending, multiple zones and large LCD displays.

The Digital Signage Kit (DSK-i5XPC) offers device manufacturers and software developers an open media player platform that is optimized for digital signage applications, according to AIS.
