Retail technology provider Omnico Group announced the launch of the DigiposFreedom Tablet, a dedicated tablet POS device that the company said readies retailers for the omnichannel world.
The Windows-enabled device can be used as a mobile tablet or docked at the point of sale to process PCI-compliant transactions. The Freedom Tablet integrates with retailers' existing POS infrastructure and can be managed by their in-house IT teams, helping to minimize total cost of ownership, the announcement said.
"Consumer tablet devices have opened up a new world of mobile computing, but ... they are not easily integrated with the existing point-of-sale infrastructure and aren't built for heavy-duty use. The Digipos Freedom Tablet is the result of extensive R&D and is the first device of its kind that addresses retailers' practical needs, yet adds a new dimension for sales assistants to enhance customer service."
