The Leibniz Knowledge Media Research Center in Tübingen, Germany, is using an 84-inch touchscreen 4K LCD display from eyevis in its research "Eye-Visit-Intuitive and personalized visitor information at the museum withinteractive displays," according to an announcement from eyevis.

The project develops multimedia information resources that are able to adaptively meet the needs and interests of museum visitors and individually provide information about exhibits. For instance, visitors can look at an overview of current exhibits on the multitouch display and put together a personalized tour for their smartphones.

To avoid accidental commands due to random contacts the touch system was designed to detect the size of the contact area, according to eyevis. This allows the system to differentiate if it was specifically touched with a finger or if somebody accidentally supported themselves with an entire hand.

In addition to different research projects, the display also is used for events at the Institute, the announcement said. In order to be able to transport the display to different areas of the building, eyevis engineers installed the display on a height-adjustable table construction, requiring a display housing that had to be adjusted specifically to the special conditions, the company said.
