4G networks launch across Bangladesh, heralding digital future

Bangalink, an operating company of VEON Ltd. has launched a 4G networks in Bangladesh, according to a press release. The rollout is expected to take place over the course of several months, starting in Khulna, Bangladesh's third largest city. The network is expected roughly to double the connection speed of the average user.

"Bangladesh is one of the world's fastest-growing economies and needs a fast high-quality network to support its rapid economic development," Kaan Terzioglu, CEO at VEON, said in the release. "Banglalink's next generation 4G network typically doubles internet speeds and will enable superior digital services. This will help our customers in their personal and professional lives, benefit the country of Bangladesh by boosting the economy and reinforce Banglalink's position as the leading digital communications services provider in Bangladesh."

The launch includes the addition of 3,000 new transmission stations to the network, bringing the total number to 14,000, according to the release. The network leverages a newly acquired 2.3 GHz spectrum and uses Time Division Duplex technology, the only network to do so in the nation at this time.
