3M, Miraenanotech complete patent license agreement for metal mesh technology

February 7, 2019

3M Company and 3M Innovative Properties have completed a patent license agreement with Miraenanotech Co. for use of 3M's metal mesh technology for touch sensors. Miraenanotech will become the first licensee as part of the agreement, according to a press release.

Manufacturers typically use metal mesh conductor technology to construct projected capacitive touch sensors for consumer and commercial products such as conference systems, interactive whiteboards and digital signage, according to the release.

"3M is a pioneer of metal mesh in the projected capacitive market and has a substantial patent portfolio," Soon-Kyo Lim, managing director of MNtech, said in the release. "With this license, we expect our metal mesh conductor film business to expand now that we can provide a stable infringement-free supply to our customers."
