3M inks patent license agreement with Cinotop Electronics for metal mesh technology

3M, 3M Innovative Properties Co. and Cinotop Electronics Co. Ltd. have signed a patent license agreement to use 3M's metal mesh technology. As part of this agreement, Cinotop will take a royalty-bearing patent license from 3M, according to a press release.

Metal mesh is commonly used to make projected capacitive touch sensors for both consumer and commercial applications, according to the release.

"Cinotop, as a quickly growing company, values intellectual property and we are proud to be the first Chinese metal mesh manufacturer to obtain a license from 3M," Su Wei, chairman of Cinotop Electronics, said in the release. "The 3M license provides Cinotop and our customers with the confidence to fuel our continued expansion."
