3M, Elo settle patent infringement lawsuit

February 13, 2019

3M Company and 3M Innovative Properties Company recently settled a patent infringement lawsuit brought against Elo  Inc. The suit alleged that certain Elo PCAP touch products infringed on 3M's metal mesh conductor film patents, according to a press release.

3M did not disclose the terms of the settlement but emphasized that it would continue to protect its patent rights.

"3M is encouraged to have been able to settle this matter. 3M will continue to defend its intellectual property rights with metal mesh manufacturers, touch panel integrators and original equipment manufacturers," Makoto Ishii, vice president and general manager display materials and systems division, 3M, said in the release.

"Elo and 3M have resolved this matter and, as expected, there are no resulting changes to Elo's product line." Craig Witsoe, CEO, Elo, said in an email statement.
