Southern California spa chain soaks in looping digital signage

A Southern California Spa Chain has deployed digital signage powered by Videotel media players to educate and engage its growing customer base and create an interactive experience for its guests and customers, according to an announcement from Videotel.

Skin Laundry, a quick-service spa with three locations in southern California, installed Videotel's VP70 commercial-grade media players to auto-loop content within the spas and stream its infomercial within its various locations, the announcement said.

"We've had three locations open for about a year and started out using another device to wirelessly stream our infomercial. It proved to be extremely unreliable. And when it was working you would get unwanted messaging, lag time, and, worst of all, it was a strain on our bandwidth," Skin Laundry co-founder and CEO Chris Carey said in the announcement. "A lot of frustrations lead to a better solution."

Videotel said its VP70 commercial-grade digital media player is intended to provide HD looping content on any screen with video resolutions from 480p to 1080p, and is designed to automatically power on, auto-play and auto-loop content 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, without failure for more than six years.

"There are many solutions out there, but mostly I found them to be overly complex and they often require a 'service' which, of course, comes with a recurring fee," Carey said. "From the minute I found Videotel I was excited. Finally something that looked simple and reliable. It literally took five minutes from opening the box to get rid of all the previous pain and frustration."

The digital media player also automatically loops content loaded on an SD card or USB drive, and connects to any NTSC, PAL, HDMI or VGA monitor or multimedia POP displays, according to Videotel.

"We are honored to partner with Skin Laundry in delivering quality digital solutions to their growing spa locations," said Lisa Schneider, Videotel's vice president of business development and market strategy, in the announcement. "Skin Laundry is in the business of providing a unique spa experience for their customers. Their model is built on fast service and distinctive procedures. The VP70 is the perfect solution for companies like them that need advanced, reliable, easy-to-operate digital media players to serve the needs of their clients."
