Flooring retailer rolls out digital signage

Dec. 3, 2013

Earlier this year, Australian flooring retailer Choices Flooring deployed an interactive touchscreen experience that would showcase its full product range and act as a sales tool for staff, according to an announcement from the soluton provider, Brisbane, Australia-based digital signage provider Prendi.

Choices Flooring's product range exceeds 800 individual floorings, and with an expected rollout to more than 200 stores across Australia, the solution would need to be dynamic enough so updates could be applied quickly and effectively across all stores from one central location, the announcement said. Also, Choices Flooring requested that customers have the ability to email or print their selected flooring once they had decided on a product.

The Prendi solution was designed to provide fast access to all floor images using a simple and intuitive interface; to supply sales staff with a visually accurate representation of each floor within an interchangeable room setting; to allow customers to browse through their flooring range at their leisure; to provide email and print functionality of selected flooring types; and to create a solution that could be updated easily without physical interaction.

Prendi deployed dual 55-inch touchscreen displays mounted within a custom-built enclosure, which Choices Flooring  decided to call the "Inspiration Station." Using Prendi's custom software, the station's visual navigation allows users to browse to a product page with little to no assistance required, the company said. Once users reach a product page, they can then browse through different products, which are visually represented as swatches. This room setting can be changed to a space that best suits the user's living environment, giving a better visual representation of what each product will look like once installed. Once users select flooring, they now have the ability to email an image of the floor within their selected room setting to a specified email address.

Phase two of the Inspiration Station is already under way, Prendi said, and boasts new features such as a search function, room customization, interface updates and more.
