CO adds truckstop digital signage kiosks showing road conditions

June 8, 2012

According to FleetOwner.com, the Colorado Dept. of Transportation has launched "COTrip Kiosks" — digital signage video screens that display highway and weather condition information to keep long-haul truckers and other motorists informed about road conditions throughout the state.

The project is a partnership of the Colorado Motor Carriers Association, the CDOT and Walmart, and will see digital signage kiosks broadcast a rotating set of the live webcam images, plus scrolling lists of highway conditions, road closures and other alerts, 24 hours a day. So far, the kiosk have been deployed in seven Colorado truck stops and officials anticipate that more than 30 truck stops in the state will have them within the next 12 months.
