Cisco Systems has announced that its Edge 340 digital signage media player is now available.

The company said its next-generation digital signage platform helps end-users engage with customers and employees in a new way by offering hardware-accelerated video, strong media processing power, comprehensive content support and large extendable storage.

Other features include improved interactivity, with touch and multitouch capabilities; flexible deployment options, with Power-over-Ethernet, Wi-Fi and non-Wi-Fi models, IPTV remote control and VESA mounting; simplified deployment, with unified content and device management; and an extensible platform, with open APIs that enable expanded use cases for any industry vertical.

To take full advantage of the expanded capabilities of the Cisco Edge 340 DMP, the company said, its ecosystem partners have produced applications and solutions for new experiences and use cases.

Appspace v5 delivers enterprise-class, feature-rich content management and vertical-specific extension modules such as Campaign Manager for retail, Priority Messaging and IPTV. And open APIs enable applications such as wayfinding, virtual experts and analytics.
