AOPEN Inc., a global provider of signage solutions for commercial businesses, has announced the launch of a new, entry-level Android-based media player range, the Express Cast product line, that includes a Web-based CMS for simple and quick installation to deliver rich multimedia solutions.
The Express Cast SDE53 is a Web-based digital signage media player box that leverages the power of Android architecture, AOPEn said. The system has a small form factor of 166mm (w) x 23mm (h) x 91mm (d) that is compatible with the AOPEN Digital Engine mounting solutions and peripherals. Retailers will be able to use asset tags and GPS location technology to distribute specific content to specific players throughout a retail network. RSS feeds and other websites can be integrated onto the display to provide additional information.
The SDE53 also supports people counting so the retailer can bill advertisers based on specific impressions, all managed from a Web-based CMS.
The other half of the Express Cast product line, the Express Cast SD7T, is a customer-facing signage solution with a small 7-inch touch display, aimed at retailers who want to deliver rich multimedia content on the shelf, the company said. It is a fully interactive display with full touchscreen support that allows the retailer to deliver interactive experiences. As with the SDE53, it is managed from a central Web portal, allowing the head office to deliver content to suit individual stores on the fly.
"We added this entry-level Android-based media player to our range to fulfill the need for a cost-effective plug-and-play solution," AOPEN Europe General Manager Jack Chou said in the announcement. "The 7-inch touch device is a perfect fit with our retail oriented products to fulfill the need for signage solutions in the SMB market."
The Express Cast products are available in Europe now, the announcement said.
