Top digital screenmedia projects help people buy, play, go

The Digital Screenmedia Association recently announced the winners of its annual DSA Industry Excellence Awards, which honor the best digital signage, mobile and self-service kiosk technology deployments across all vertical market segments.

The awards covered a wide spectrum, ranging from digital signage and kiosks in a children's park to a digital signage and social media integration in a Major League Baseball park.

"This was truly one of the best sets of entries we have ever seen," DSA executive director Paul Flanigan said in announcing the awards. "We received entries from all over the world, including Denmark, Australia, Taiwan, Dubai and Canada, as well as outstanding entries from the United States. So many of these winners are branching out beyond one channel of consumer engagement, many using two or three channels, including digital signage, mobile and kiosks. It's clear that multichannel interactivity is beginning to dominate the experience in every vertical."

The Adventure Garden deployment is "fabulous" for children, according to the Dallas Morning News. "Best of all, they'll be having so much fun, they won't realize how much they're learning on their journey, each step of which has been meticulously designed with state and national curriculum standards for life and earth sciences in mind," theater and children's entertainment reporter Nancy Churnin wrote.

Submitted by: Array Interactive recently named the @Café the No. 1 social media campaign of the 2013 MLB regular season: "The @Café is number one on the list because it's a seamless integration of social media and baseball. It's a place where all fans — not just a select few — can meet, mingle, and enjoy baseball in a new way. It appeals to fans who may not normally come to the stadium, while also introducing those who already attend to the social media community. The Giants and their @Café have the potential to become true trendsetters in MLB."

"We think today really is the first of its kind," Giants President and CEO Larry Baer said at the opening of the @Café, "the first social media headquarters located in a ballpark."
