Gefen LLC announced it will showcase several new solutions designed to help build a solid, state-of-the-art infrastructure supporting digital signage installations of all shapes and sizes at this year's Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas.

Video over IP: DVI KVM over IP - Allows remote control of computers from any workstation using a gigabit Ethernet switch. Users can access computer data using keyboard, video monitor and mouse at any location on the local area network. One local DVI output on the sender unit is provided for video monitoring. Digital, high-resolution video in the DVI format, four USB peripherals, analog stereo audio and RS-232 control signals are transported over the LAN with optional extension up to 100 meters (330 ft.) on both sender and receiver sides using a single CAT-5 cable. This extension system uses a method of visually lossless compression, and boasts latency of less than two frames, the company said.

4K ultra-HD: Extender for HDMI 4K ultra-HD over fiber - Delivers resolutions up to 4K (3840x2160@30Hz) together with RS-232 and bidirectional IR using one SC-terminated fiber optic cable. This long-range solution is effective up to 2,000 meters (6,600 ft.) in distance. RS-232 offers a method of system automation and control while bi-directional IR facilitates control from both local and extended locations. Surface-mountable enclosures provide maximum installation flexibility.

The Gefen Extra Long Range Extender for HDMI over one CAT-5 with Power over Line provides a point-to-point transmission of 4K ultra-HD content with RS-232 and bi-directional IR. POL provides power to the receiver unit using the same single CAT-5 cable, and alleviates the need for an external power supply at the receiver side. Distances up to 150 meters (490 ft.) at 1080p full-HD and up to 100 meters (330 ft.) at 4K ultra-HD can be achieved using this solution, the company said. Content is delivered with near zero latency using industry-standard CAT-5 cabling combined with Gefen's ELR implementation of the HDBaseT technology. This solution is designed to be ideal for a high quality signal extension using in-conduit cabling. Users can upgrade their audio/video system without uprooting cabling.

Wireless HD extension: Wireless for HDMI 60 GHz - Delivers 1080p full HD content up to 10 meters (33 ft.) in the same room, with no line of sight required. Uncompressed video with 3D and all HDMI audio formats including the new lossless High Bit Rate 7.1 channel Dolby True-HD and DTS-HD Master Audio are delivered wirelessly. This method of extension uses the uncluttered 60 GHz EHF radio band to transport HDMI point to point, preventing interference from surrounding signals, and delivering content wirelessly at 4 Gbps from source to display. It features a small footprint, competitive price and full HDCP compliance, the company said.

Seamless Switching: 4x1 Multiview Seamless Switcher for HDMI - Provides switching between four sources outputting to one display with zero latency or picture loss, the company said. One source may be viewed on the display, or all four sources may be viewed as windows on the same display. Video from each source may be scaled and sized to accommodate the display's maximum capacity. All features, including window arrangements, are accessed by the on-screen display using front panel buttons, IP control, RS-232 or IR remote control. Additional window views can be configured using the Web server interface.

The new 4x4 Seamless Matrix for HDMI routes and scales four high definition sources to one or all four connected displays with an instant delivery of content. Each source may be routed to one display or multiple displays simultaneously. The matrix supports essentially any arrangement imaginable between four sources and four displays, the company said. Users access all features through the on-screen display using front panel buttons, IP control, RS-232 or IR remote control.

High resolution signal extension: DisplayPort extender over 2 LC fibers - Offers a point-to-point extension of high-resolution video in the DisplayPort format using two LC-terminated, multimode fiber optic cables effective up to 300 meters (984 ft.) in distance. This solution supports 2560x1600 video resolution with full HDCP, 3DTV and DPCP support, the company said.
