ZIVELO, a manufacturer of self-service kiosk and digital signage products, has launched the X-Eco kiosk, an energy efficient outdoor digital signage kiosk with an optional 200-Watt solar power kit — allowing for a completely wireless solution that can be installed virtually anywhere, according to ZIVELO.
The optional solar kit employs a patented power management system that allows the X-Eco kiosk to operate solely on solar power, reducing overall power consumption, but also automatically adjusts power settings by predicting sunshine levels through monitoring of local weather forecasts. For areas with intermittent sunshine, battery-powered or electrically-wired backup systems are included in the solar kit, and an optional hand crank generator eliminates the need for power and data access, the company said.
The introduction of the environmentally friendly X-Eco kiosk aligns with ZIVELO's commitment to green business practices, the company said. In 2011, ZIVELO announced a tree planting campaign, pledging to plant three trees for every kiosk sold to positively offset the company's carbon footprint. Since the campaign's launch, 11,500 trees have been planted in developing nations around the world, and that number continues to rise.
