DST's Most Wanted: The top 5 most-read stories of January

As the first month of the year draws to a close, as the news from acronymic trade shows like NRF, CES and ISE finally slows to a trickle — and before the media blitz of DSE begins — let's catch our breaths and look back over the highlights of the month that was.

Here are this month's top five most-read articles from DST (by total pageviews):

5. NFL cities talk trash via digital billboards: This lighthearted, picture-heavy feature takes a look at the war of words between Boston and the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., area conducted via digital billboards as the NFL's Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots squared off for the right to play in the Super Bowl.

4. DST's Most Wanted: The top 10 most-read stories of 2012: This look back at the most-read stories of 2012 was so popular, we decided to try it again on a monthly basis.

3. Financial institutions banking on digital signage: This feature looks at how digital signage is returning to its roots in banks and financial institutions, as the medium helps FIs navigate the rough waters of a changing marketplace.

2. Intel gamifies Pepsi vending machine: This video feature from the National Retail Federation BIG Show includes a video interview with Intel's Ravi Sirigineedi as he demonstrates a gamified digital signage Pepsi machine at the show.

1. The top 10 digital signage trends ahead for 2013: Not surprisingly, the first entry on the list is one that almost certainly also will wind up on the year-end most-read list, digital signage expert Keith kelsen's annual prediction list for the year to come, parts one and two, was number one and two, respectively, on this list (we'll make it one for top fiving purposes).
