Intel Corp. showed off a new interactive digital signage vending concept for Pepsi that incorporates gamification to increase customer engagement at this year's National Retail Federation Retail's BIG Show in new York City.
Ravi Sirigineedi, visual retail market development manager at Intel, demonstrated how consumers can use the machine just for simple vending, but also can play games on the digital signage screen to win gifts they could then send to friends via the machine.
"Once they are actually done with the vending and as they are enjoying the drink, they can actually continue to interact with the machine in a more one-on-one fashion," Sirigineedi said in a video interview from the show floor.
A pilot deployment of 10 of the units has been rolled out to five malls across the U.S., Sirigineedi said.
