Disney's brightest stars are strutting their stuff on the digital signage runway in New York City, as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Snow White and Tiana are appearing in the holiday display lighting up the windows of the Barneys New York flagship store on Madison Avenue.
According to an announcement from global visual technologies company Christie, the world of high fashion is coming to life in a holiday digital signage extravaganza on multiple configurations of 425 Christie MicroTiles filling the windows at Barneys. In a partnership between The Walt Disney Company, Barneys New York and Christie, the "Electric Holiday" display is a multimedia presentation highlighted by a digitally-animated, moving-art short featuring Disney characters as they do their little turn on the catwalk in original designer clothes.
Following the world premiere on Nov. 14, the eight-minute art short will continue to loop throughout the day on the Christie MicroTiles display. The window displays will be up until Jan. 3, 2013.
"We are thrilled to be working with the experts at Christie on Disney Electric Holiday Windows at Barneys New York," said Lylle Breier, SVP of world wide special events, Walt Disney Studios. "Disney and Barneys wanted to create a visually stunning window display unlike any other ... Utilizing 565 square feet of MicroTiles and 50 million pixels we are able to create a brilliant light and video show that will light up Madison Ave. throughout the holidays."
According to The Huffington Post, the opening event on Nov. 14 also featured a live appearance by "Sex in the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker, among other fashion notables:
Thanks to a few marketing geniuses, Disney and Barneys have come together and finally unveiled their "Electric Holiday" campaign, complete with cartoon ads and gorgeous window displays, which were unveiled on Wednesday evening in New York City.
The centerpiece of the Disney+ Barneys windows is an animated short starring Minnie Mouse, who window-shops for a Lanvin dress, daydreams her way to Paris Fashion Week and meets VIPs like Steven Meisel and Carine Roitfeld along the way. (We're totally jealous.)
Christie said its Managed Services team provided technical consultation at every stage of the installation, from concept finalization, to pre-staging, to on-site set-up, expanding on its long history of collaboration with Disney. Each window will feature an array of Christie MicroTiles in a staggered, multilayer setup of various shapes and depths, surrounded by bright meshes of lights that will be synchronized with the music.
"'Electric Holiday' is a stellar combination of state-of-the art animation, lights, music, and fashion that will encompass eight windows of Barneys New York's Madison Avenue store and represents one of the most complex combinations of shapes, resolution, size and depth of field ever used with the Christie MicroTiles," said Sean James, vice president of managed services for Christie.
