iSuppli: Touchscreen digital signage market set to grow to $928 million in 2010

• 15 Jan 2010

According to iSuppli’s 2009 Signage & Professional Touch Screen Report, touchscreens are predicted to continue driving growth in several important markets in the coming years. The report sees rapid expansion with shipments for signage and professional display applications growing 48 percent from 971,755 units in 2009 to 1.44 million units in 2010. Total market revenue is expected to increase from $695 million in 2009 to $928 million in 2010.

Education and conference rooms will provide the two largest applications for touchscreens in 2010, occupying nearly 80 percent of the total touch market for signage and professional applications. Resistive, optical imaging and electromagnetic are the dominant technologies for these applications.

iSuppli also expects touchscreen module shipments for signage and professional display applications to reach 5.4 million units or $2.9 billion in 2013, for CAGRs of 55 percent and 46 percent from 2010 to 2013, for units and revenue, respectively.

Key applications driving the touchscreen market will continue to be education, indoor venues, conference rooms, retail signage and transportation.
